"Our Universal Right" is a finalist in the 2021 Korea-Australia Arts Foundation art prize

Artists statement: I was inspired to make this painting after listening to a TED talk by the women's rights activist Khadija Gbla. Khadija spoke about how, in many countries throughout the world, forces acted to limit women's rights to sexual pleasure, mostly to protect male honour. I strongly feel that women should have the choice to enjoy sex, it’s their right and it’s not OK for a patriarchy, or a matriarchy, to take that choice from them – no matter how well intentioned. I wanted to support the great work that Khadija and other women’s rights activists are doing.
