Dagmar's painting 'Timeout' is a finalist in the Calleen Art Award

The Cowra Art gallery's annual painting competition, The Calleen Art Award selected Dagmar's work 'Time out' as a finalist in 2018. Here follows Dagmar's artist's statement for this piece.

"Mostly my work concerns itself with relationships and what it is like to be human. This particular painting started with the mother in the left hand side, slumped in a chair, finally a moment to herself. Modern technology entertains the daughters. Thinking that was too obvious and also for compositional reasons I removed the motherly figure and felt that the two girls engrossed in the iPad was enough of a message. There is a mix of old with the wall paper and new with the iPad and the way in which the paint is handled. I am interested in the shift of thinking from traditional expectations of woman, relationships etc. So the wall paper eludes to this as the iPad highlights new ways of thinking."
