Dagmar is a finalist in the Calleen art award
Dagmar's painting, Timeout II has been selected as a finalist in the Calleen art award. This painting started with a mother in the left hand side, slumped in a chair, finally a moment to herself whilst modern technology entertains her daughters. Thinking that was too obvious and also for compositional reasons I removed the motherly figure and felt that the two girls engrossed in the iPad was enough of a message. There is a mix of old with the wall paper and new with the iPad and the way in which the paint is handled. I am interested in the shift of thinking from traditional expectations of woman, relationships etc. So the wall paper eludes to this as the iPad highlights new ways of thinking.
